Lochinver Primary School Choir Shines at 2000 Royal National Mod
The Lochinver Primary School choir, known as Coisir Og Loch an Inbhir, achieved notable success at the 2000 Royal National Mod held in Dunoon. The children, led by their head teacher and conductor Kenny Mackenzie, participated in the prestigious Gaelic music festival, marking a significant milestone in their young musical careers.
The choir secured second place in the rural primaries’ competition and fourth in the under-13 unison singing category. This event was particularly special as it was the first time many children had performed at a National Mod, a celebration of Gaelic culture and music. Their performance took place outside the Queen’s Hall, with Dunoon’s iconic Victorian pier serving as a picturesque backdrop.
