Pembrokeshire Council Approves Amendments for Holiday Park Expansion

The Pembrokeshire County Council has granted approval for amendments to the expansion of a holiday park on the outskirts of Tenby. The project, led by Lewis Davies, involves modifications to a previously approved scheme to add 20 lodges at Florence Springs, part of the Heatherton World of Activities complex.

The planning committee recommended the application for approval during its meeting in November 2025. The original scheme, which included a manager’s dwelling and the creation of an amenity lake, received full council approval in late 2021, despite an initial recommendation for refusal from council officers.

During the committee meeting, it was noted that construction had begun on the manager’s dwelling, with the ground floor block work mostly completed. However, work has since halted, and no construction activity is currently taking place at the site.

The proposed amendments involve raising the eaves and ridge height of the dwelling by 500 mm, adding an internal balcony to the rear elevation, and making minor changes to the window design and cladding. Davies emphasized that these “slight design changes” aim to enhance the functionality of the approved plans.

Support for the project was voiced by Cllr Rhys Jordan, the county councillor for the St Florence ward, who described the applicants as a “well-known family” providing a valuable year-round tourism resource. The motion for approval was introduced by Cllr Brian Hall, who highlighted the busy nature of the facility, and was seconded by Cllr Chris Williams. The committee members unanimously supported the approval.

The expansion at Florence Springs is anticipated to further enhance the tourism landscape in Pembrokeshire, contributing to the local economy and providing additional recreational opportunities for visitors. The holiday park complex is already recognized for its family-friendly activities and amenities, making this approval a significant step forward in its development.
