Tinubu’s Administration Promises Long-Term Growth for Nigeria
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, has stated that President Bola Tinubu is establishing a robust foundation for long-term economic growth and shared prosperity in Nigeria. Idris made this assertion during a courtesy visit from members of the Grassroots Advocacy for Tinubu (GAT) 2027 in Abuja. A statement issued by the minister’s Special Assistant on Media, Malam Rabiu Ibrahim, highlighted these comments.
Idris emphasized that the Tinubu administration has made bold and sometimes challenging decisions aimed at placing Nigeria on a more sustainable economic trajectory. He noted that early indicators of recovery are becoming apparent across key sectors of the economy. “These steps were taken to stabilise the economy and restore confidence,” he said. “What we are seeing today is the foundation for long-term growth and shared prosperity.”
Unity and Responsible Communication Crucial for Economic Stability
The minister underscored the importance of protecting Nigeria’s improving economic outlook through unity, responsible communication, and collective support for national policies. He warned that distorted narratives about the country could undermine investor confidence and hinder development. “We must speak positively and truthfully about Nigeria,” Idris asserted. “When we project stability and unity, we attract investments and create opportunities for our people.”
Idris commended the GAT 2027 group for its civic engagement and its commitment to supporting accurate public information. He welcomed their proposal for a partnership with the Federal Ministry of Information and the National Orientation Agency focused on public enlightenment, youth engagement, and strategic communication. According to him, advocacy groups play a vital role in ensuring government policies reach the grassroots.
“Effective communication is essential to national stability and development,” Idris said. He reaffirmed the president’s commitment to making Nigeria work for all citizens, regardless of their religion or background. The minister assured the GAT delegation that the ministry would continue collaborating with credible organizations to ensure that accurate information is widely disseminated.
GAT 2027’s Commitment to Supporting Government Policies
The National Coordinator of GAT 2027, Prof. Ochugudu Ipuele, stated that the group’s visit aimed to formally brief the minister on its activities and show solidarity with his mandate to inform Nigerians and clarify government policies. “We are here to solidarise with you on the mandate you have for Nigeria, which is to inform the country, clarify government policies, and take information to the grassroots,” he explained.
Ipuele emphasized that the group is dedicated to supporting President Tinubu’s policies by countering distorted narratives, particularly during election periods, and engaging young people. “This group is poised to respond in real time to false or misleading information in the public space and to engage the youth,” he added.
The interaction between Idris and the GAT 2027 underscores the administration’s focus on fostering collaboration with civic organizations to strengthen communication and public trust. As Nigeria navigates its economic recovery, the emphasis on unity and responsible communication aims to create a more stable environment conducive to growth.
