In a previous update, he described the experience as “hellish,” but remained optimistic about his recovery. “Day by day I’m improving and I am remaining positive and trying to look on the bright side,” he noted while presenting his show shortly after a fall that left him with a broken shoulder. This accident further increased his reliance on walking frames and wheelchairs.

Holmes expressed gratitude towards the National Health Service (NHS) staff, stating, “I really must say a heartfelt thank you to the doctors and nursing staff who have been looking after me. They are all amazing. God bless.”
