Morgan Wallen’s Arrest: Cops Turn Up His Music During Incident

Country music star Morgan Wallen found himself in an unusual situation during his arrest in April 2024, when a police car played his own song. The incident stemmed from an alleged chair-throwing episode at fellow musician Eric Church‘s bar, Chiefs, located in Nashville, Tennessee. Wallen was apprehended after reportedly tossing a chair from the sixth floor, which landed dangerously close to a group of officers below. He later pled guilty to two misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment.

Recent video footage from the back of the police vehicle revealed Wallen’s reaction as he recognized his music playing on the stereo. The singer, visibly amused, encouraged the officer to increase the volume, exclaiming, “Turn it up! That’s me and TR!” referring to his collaborator Thomas Rhett. Wallen’s playful demeanor contrasted sharply with the circumstances of his arrest, as he expressed admiration for Rhett, calling him “one of the best dudes in the world” who “would definitely not be getting arrested.”

The incident sparked a range of reactions online, with many social media users finding humor in Wallen’s comments about Rhett. One user quipped, “He would definitely not be getting arrested” while another referenced Wallen’s past remarks about finding “God’s country” in an amusing context related to his arrest.

In December 2024, Wallen faced the legal repercussions of his actions. Although initially charged with three Class E felonies, he accepted a plea deal that reduced the charges to two misdemeanors. During a brief court appearance, he appeared composed, sporting a short haircut and dressed in a grey blazer over a black outfit. Judge Cynthia Chappell inquired about his plea, to which Wallen responded, “Conditionally guilty.”

Wallen’s attorney, Worrick Robinson, stated after the hearing that this plea would not result in a conviction as long as Wallen adhered to the court’s conditions. Following his successful completion of a two-year probation period, the charges could be dismissed and expunged. Robinson emphasized that Wallen had cooperated fully with authorities and expressed remorse for the incident.

In addition to the legal penalties, Wallen was ordered to pay a fine of $350 along with court fees. He has expressed a commitment to making a positive impact through his music and charitable endeavors.
