Morrisons Launches 10% Discount for 3.6 Million Blue Light Card Holders
Morrisons has announced a new initiative to support emergency service workers by introducing a permanent 10% discount at its cafes across the UK. This offer, available to all holders of the Blue Light Card, aims to provide financial relief for more than 3.6 million individuals in the emergency services, NHS, social care sector, and armed forces. The discount will be accessible every day with no minimum spend requirement.
The discount applies to a variety of popular café items, including the classic Fish & Chips, Sausage & Mash, and Morrisons’ Big Breakfast. Customers can enjoy these meals for less while showing their Blue Light Card.
“Do you have a Blue Light Card? As a thank you for all you do, we are offering 10% off in our Cafes,”
the company stated.
Additionally, Morrisons is running a promotion where children aged 16 or under can receive a free meal and drink when an adult purchases a main meal priced at £5 from their Breakfast or Classics menu. This initiative includes options from the Birds Eye kids’ menu, featuring items such as Chicken Dippers and Fish Fingers, typically priced around £4.
Support for Emergency Service Workers
Chris Strong, Senior Café Trader at Morrisons, expressed pride in supporting the dedicated individuals in the emergency services. He stated,
“We’re proud to support the incredible individuals in the emergency services who go above and beyond every day by introducing a 10% Blue Light Card discount in our Cafés. Whether popping in for coffee, cake or one of our tasty meals, being able to offer our great value favourites for even less is our way of saying thank you.”
While many customers have welcomed the initiative, there have been mixed reactions on social media. Some shoppers have emphasized the importance of such discounts for community care staff. One user remarked, “A great help to those community care staff between calls – as long as there is a Morrisons with a café nearby.” Conversely, other customers have pointed out that many Morrisons cafes have been closed, questioning the viability of the offer.
The Blue Light Card is a discount service that partners with over 13,000 retailers to provide savings for its members. According to NHS Professionals and the Blue Light Card organization, this initiative not only benefits emergency service workers but also reinforces community support for those who serve and protect.
