Belfast Unveils New Christmas Grotto Experience for 2025

A new immersive Christmas Grotto experience is set to launch in Belfast, promising to enhance the festive spirit for residents and visitors alike. The Victoria Square Express will begin its journey on November 8, 2025, and will operate on weekends throughout November, Fridays to Sundays in December, and daily from December 22 to December 24.

Boarding the magical train at Victoria Square, participants will be transported to a snowy Christmas village. Here, they can explore Santa’s Village Stores, interact with friendly reindeer, including one that sings, and relax in the enchanting Snow Globe Snug. The experience culminates in a personal meeting with Santa Claus himself.

Michelle Greeves, Centre Manager at Victoria Square, expressed enthusiasm about the new attraction, stating, “Christmas is always a magical time at Victoria Square, but this year we’re taking it to a whole new level. The Victoria Square Express is an immersive festive journey that captures the wonder and excitement of the season for children and adults alike.”

The festive season officially kicks off on November 8, when Victoria Square will transform into a winter wonderland for the Christmas Lights switch-on. At 12:00 PM, Santa will be joined by Peter Corry and friends to illuminate the centre under its iconic glass dome, marking the start of Christmas celebrations in the city.

In addition to the Christmas Grotto, the Christmas Fayre will return on select dates throughout the season. Late-night shopping will also commence on December 8, with stores open until 9:00 PM on weekdays through to December 23, providing shoppers extra time to find perfect gifts.

For those seeking a quieter experience at the Victoria Square Express, specific times have been designated. Visitors are encouraged to book their spots in advance for the quieter hours on Sundays, November 16, 23, and 30, from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM.
