A mother of three, Danielle Broadway, has successfully lost 90 pounds in just 14 months by eliminating daily energy drinks and embracing small, sustainable lifestyle changes. At the age of 30, Broadway discovered the Simple app, which has been instrumental in her transformation and has reportedly assisted users worldwide in shedding over 18 million pounds without restrictive diets.

Life was hectic for Broadway, who struggled with the demands of motherhood while managing persistent gut health issues. “My main goal when starting out was just wanting to feel better,” she shared. “If I lost weight, it would’ve been a huge bonus for me, but I just wanted to feel better in my gut.”

Feeling bloated and reacting negatively to many foods, she began researching better eating habits. This led her to intermittent fasting and the Simple app, which she found appealing due to its user-friendly design. The app offers personalized plans based on a short quiz, which includes features for tracking intermittent fasting, convenient food logging, daily workout plans, and a virtual wellness coach named Avo.

Broadway found the app’s interface and features, including a smartwatch tracker, particularly helpful in maintaining accountability without disrupting her busy family life. She noted that after a challenging initial phase, the app provided recipes that complemented her gut health. “I ended up dropping 42 pounds in five months. And I changed nothing about my lifestyle; I ate better, I felt amazing, I had all this sustained energy,” she explained.

A significant factor in her journey was the decision to eliminate energy drinks from her diet, which she recognized as unsustainable. Since making that change, Broadway has experienced increased energy levels and improved skin health. She described her transformation as a “lifestyle change” that took time to integrate fully.

“It had a huge snowball effect into every aspect of my life,” she reflected. Broadway has not only improved her health but also rediscovered hobbies and learned to prioritize self-care.

The Simple app fosters community support through its Facebook group and features like Blinky, a virtual companion that encourages users to continue their progress. Users can also access a variety of workout types, including yoga and HIIT, with personalized guidance from Avo on meals and exercise.

Broadway’s current fitness routine includes short exercises at home and hiking once or twice a week, with a goal of conditioning herself to hike the Appalachian Trail portion in Virginia, which stretches over 530 miles.

When asked about motivation, she advised, “Be kind to yourself. Celebrate the smallest victories; you are doing amazing things out there.”

While Simple has garnered significant praise, there are other platforms available for individuals seeking similar support. For instance, Noom emphasizes mindful eating without strict diets, providing scientific support and personalized courses. Another option is MyFitnessPal, which focuses on tracking calories and nutritional intake.

The Simple app has achieved over 21 million downloads and boasts a 4.7-star rating on the App Store, recognized as the No.1 app of 2025 by Forbes. Users have expressed satisfaction with its tracking features and motivational coaching, although some have noted areas for improvement.

Overall, Broadway’s journey highlights the potential for personal transformation through commitment and the right tools, showing that significant health changes can stem from adopting sustainable habits.
