Police Investigate Death of Woman in Newtownabbey, Man Released

A woman identified as Mary McAdorey was pronounced dead at a residence in the Old Mill Drive area of Newtownabbey on the afternoon of October 12, 2025. The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) announced that they are not treating her death as a murder at this time. A 40-year-old man arrested in connection with the incident has been released on bail while the investigation continues.

Detective Chief Inspector Tom Phillips, who is leading the inquiry with the PSNI’s Major Investigation Team, expressed condolences to McAdorey’s family. “My thoughts are, first and foremost, with the woman’s family who are left trying to come to terms with the loss of their loved one,” he stated.
