West Midlands GP Survey Reveals Underperforming Practices Ahead of 2026

The 2026 GP Patient Survey is set to launch, inviting residents across England to evaluate their local General Practitioner (GP) surgeries. This annual survey aims to gather the perspectives of patients regarding the performance of their healthcare providers. Recent data from the 2025 survey has highlighted several practices in the West Midlands that received notably low ratings.

As part of the survey, patients are asked to assess various aspects of their GP experience. These include the quality of care provided, the accessibility of appointment booking, and the ease of communication with the practice, whether by phone or online. Respondents rate their experiences with options ranging from “very good” to “very poor.” The feedback collected plays a crucial role in alerting the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to practices in need of improvement.

Among the GP surgeries in the West Midlands, the Saltley and Fernbank Medical Practice received the lowest rating in 2025, with only 36% of patients expressing satisfaction. Other poorly rated practices included:

Stone Cross Medical Centre – 40% rated good
Aubrey Road Medical Centre, Small Heath – 42%
Jubilee Health Centre, Wednesbury – 42%
Finch Road Primary Care Centre, Lozells – 45%
Hawthorns Medical Centre, Smethwick – 45%
Victoria Road Medical Centre, Aston – 46%
Black Country Family Practice, Tipton – 47%
Clifton Lane Medical Centre, Stone Cross – 47%
Great Bridge Health Centre – 48%

These ratings have raised concerns as only about four in ten local patients felt their GP was performing adequately. The upcoming survey results, which are typically published in the summer, will provide an opportunity for these practices to demonstrate any improvements made over the past year.

As the 2026 survey approaches, patients in the West Midlands are encouraged to share their experiences again, which could influence both local healthcare practices and the CQC’s oversight. Practices that ranked at the bottom of the performance list will be under pressure to enhance their services and patient satisfaction in the coming year.
