A festive celebration is set to unfold at the Hewins Wood Pottery in Bradfield this weekend. Starting on December 16 and running until December 20, 2023, potter Andrew Hazelden will showcase his annual Christmas exhibition alongside two talented artists, painter Freya Barton and wreath-maker Jane Body.

Visitors are invited to explore the pottery from 11:00 to 16:00 on the opening day, where they will be greeted by the warm aroma of mince pies baking on the woodstove. Festive refreshments will also be available, enhancing the holiday spirit in this unique creative space.

In the showroom, attendees can view Hazelden’s latest collection, which features a diverse array of pottery, including large bowls, delicate espresso cups, and elegant serving dishes. Notably, his work includes exquisite tin-glaze earthenware and his signature reduction lustreware. This latter technique, which few have mastered, produces iridescent pieces that beautifully catch the light, showcasing Hazelden’s expertise in the craft.

Barton’s vibrant paintings will also be on display. Her artwork, influenced by folk art and the tradition of Swedish painted furniture, brings a playful energy to the exhibition. The decorative interior views she creates are filled with lively colors, making them a delightful addition to any home.

Jane Body will present her handcrafted natural wreaths, perfect for adorning both front and cottage doors. Her creations range from large statement pieces to charming table centrepieces and candle holders, all designed to last throughout the season and beyond. For those looking to add a personal touch, wreath kits will also be available, allowing visitors to create their own festive decorations.

The pottery, located at Hewins Wood Farm, RG7 6DH, will be closed on December 17 and will resume regular hours from December 18 to December 23, open Monday through Saturday from 11:00 to 17:00.

This annual event promises a delightful blend of art, craft, and Christmas cheer, making it a must-visit for those seeking unique holiday gifts and seasonal inspiration.
