Discover the Irresistible Recipe for Festive Linzer Cookies
As the holiday season approaches, many families are preparing to indulge in traditional baked goods. Among the favorites are Linzer cookies, a delightful treat known for their simple yet aromatic flavor. These cookies not only pair well with coffee or tea but also have a remarkable shelf life, lasting up to two weeks when stored in an airtight container.
Ingredients for Perfect Linzer Cookies
To create these delicious cookies, gather the following ingredients:
– 2 egg yolks
– 250 grams of flour
– 1 packet of baking powder
– 125 grams of butter
– 100 grams of sugar
– 1 packet of vanilla or lemon sugar
– A pinch of salt
– Jam of your choice
– Powdered sugar for dusting
These ingredients combine to create a sweet treat that is as pleasing to the eye as it is to the palate.
Step-by-Step Preparation
Start by preheating your oven to 180 degrees Celsius. In a large mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients, including flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Next, add the butter, softened to room temperature, and mix with your hands until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Once the butter is fully incorporated, add the egg yolks and knead the dough briefly. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap or place it in a bag and refrigerate for approximately 30 minutes. This chilling process helps the dough firm up, making it easier to roll out.
After chilling, dust your work surface with flour and roll the dough to a thickness of about three millimeters. Use cookie cutters to shape the dough, cutting out circles for the cookies. For every other cookie, create a small hole in the center to allow the jam to peek through once baked.
Arrange the cookies on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and bake them for 8 to 10 minutes. Keep an eye on them; they should remain light in color. Once baked, remove them from the oven and allow them to cool completely.
To finish, dust the cookies with powdered sugar, then spread jam on the solid cookies and sandwich them together with the ones that have holes. The result is a charming assortment of Linzer cookies that are sure to impress guests and family alike.
Enjoy these delightful cookies as part of your holiday festivities, creating sweet memories with every bite.
