Herceg Novi, Luka Bar, and Buducnost Secure Wins in Superliga
In a thrilling round of matches in the EPCG Superliga for women’s volleyball, the top three teams—Herceg Novi, Luka Bar, and Buducnost—each secured victories during the ninth round of competition. The reigning champions, Herceg Novi, triumphed decisively at home against Jedinstvo, winning 3-0. This victory marks their ninth win of the season, while Jedinstvo faces their sixth loss.
Playing without key player Tatjana Bokan, who was rested for this match, Herceg Novi demonstrated their depth. Žili Oliveira Souza led the scoring with 10 points, supported by Odet Ndoj, Gordana Madžgalj, and Aleksandra Gligorić, each contributing up to nine points. For Jedinstvo, Andrija Merdović was the standout performer, managing seven points in a challenging match.
Bar and Buducnost Maintain Momentum
Luka Bar mirrored Herceg Novi’s success with a 3-0 victory over Rudar in Pljevlja, marking their eighth win of the season. The team was led by Magdalena Kuburović with 14 points and Teodora Čavić with 13. Rudar struggled, with only Katarina Bajčeta and Milena Smolović each scoring three points.
In the highly anticipated derby, Buducnost defeated Albatros 3-1 just days after eliminating them in the quarterfinals of the Montenegro Cup. The Podgorica-based team, known as the “Blues,” claimed their seventh win, with Diana Crnojacki leading the charge with 15 points, followed by Lana Rakočević with 12 and Klara Đukić with 11. Albatros, suffering their third defeat of the league, had Anđela Stojković scoring 13 points, while Đurđa Nedeljkovic and Dežanj Varga each added 10 points.
Moraca also celebrated a win, overcoming Gimnazijalac 3-1 in another rematch following the cup quarterfinals. Lara Jovović and Darja Popović shone with 19 points each, while Aleksandra Davidović contributed 10 points. Gimnazijalac found scoring from only five players, with Jelena Ćorović finishing the match with 15 points and Matea Kovačević with 14.
Finally, Mediteran edged Budva in a city derby, winning 3-1. Anastasija Kovačević was the star of the match, racking up 27 points, while teammates Milica Obradović and Sara Jovović added 17 and 14 points, respectively. Budva’s scoring was led by Jana Mrdak and Elena Čolaković, each contributing 13 points.
