Highfield and Brookham School Raises £8,500 for Local Charities
Highfield and Brookham School has successfully raised a remarkable £8,500 for charity through a series of festive events. The funds will support two important initiatives: the Highfield Highreach Holidays, which provides residential experiences for children with additional needs, and the Highfield Centenary Bursaries Fund, aimed at helping students access independent schooling.
The fundraising efforts brought together students, families, and staff to participate in various Christmas-themed activities. Among these were the popular Christmas Shopping Event, which featured over 35 local stallholders and live performances by the school’s Rock Choir. Another highlight was the annual Winter Wonderland, where pupils actively organized and managed their own fundraising stalls and activities, including a much-visited photo booth.
A standout feature of the Winter Wonderland was the Giving Tree. This initiative allowed families to choose specific gift ideas to donate to the Liphook Foodbank. The response from the community was overwhelming, resulting in an early delivery of gifts from Father Christmas, ensuring that local families received essential support in time for the holiday season.
Head of School Suzannah Cryer expressed her gratitude for the community’s efforts, stating, “It is amazing what our school community can achieve when we come together, and I am overwhelmed and humbled by the £8,500 raised. These funds will support Highfield Highreach Holidays and the Highfield Centenary Bursaries Fund, helping children to attend an independent school who might not otherwise have the opportunity.”
Cryer thanked the entire school community for their generosity and support, particularly the Parent Committee, volunteers, and stallholders. She emphasized that their collective efforts have made a meaningful impact on the charities and the Liphook Foodbank, contributing to a festive term that the community will long remember.
The success of these fundraising activities illustrates the spirit of giving that defines the holiday season, reinforcing the important role that educational institutions play in fostering community engagement and support. Highfield and Brookham School’s initiatives not only provide vital resources to those in need but also create lasting memories for students and families alike.
