Penny Lancaster has shared insights into her family’s unique Christmas traditions, highlighting her husband, Sir Rod Stewart’s, unconventional preferences. The presenter of Loose Women revealed that while she enjoys a festive breakfast ritual, Rod is notably absent from this aspect of the holiday celebrations.

Lancaster described her annual Christmas Day beginning with a “posh breakfast” accompanied by a glass of bubbly. She noted, “Rod won’t partake in the champagne in the morning. He doesn’t even like champagne!” This refusal sets the tone for their differing approaches to the festive season.

Despite not participating in the breakfast toast, Rod Stewart embraces his own Christmas tradition. According to Lancaster, he insists on visiting a pub on Christmas Day with her and their two sons, Alastair, 19, and Aiden, 14. She remarked, “Rod’s thing is we have to go to the pub on Christmas Day. At the moment, his favourite two drinks are a pint of Guinness and a glass of rosé – a strange combination.” She clarified, “Not in one glass, obviously!”

As the festive season approaches, Lancaster expressed her enthusiasm for decorating their home, contrasting with her husband’s more subdued outlook. She explained, “He just sees the house being turned upside down.” This difference in perspective highlights the challenges of blending family traditions, especially in a household with a rich history.

Looking ahead, Lancaster hopes for a joyful reunion this year, as she mentioned the possibility of Rod’s older children—Ruby, Liam, and Sean—visiting from the United States, along with his grandchildren. She fondly reflected, “Now my boys are older, having the grandchildren to stay will reignite the magic that you get when you see the festive period through a child’s eyes.”

Rod Stewart, a father of eight, has children from multiple relationships. His family includes four daughters – Sarah, 61, Kimberly, 46, Ruby, 38, and Renee, 33 – along with two sons, Sean, 45, and Liam, 31.

In addition to their Christmas customs, Lancaster also shared a new tradition for the New Year. On January 1st, she posted on Instagram a heartwarming photo of Alastair and Aiden celebrating their first Hogmanay, dressed in traditional Scottish kilts alongside their father. She expressed pride in their Scottish heritage, stating, “My sons are proud of their Scottish heritage from Rod’s side of the family.”

The blending of traditions and the joy of family gatherings exemplify the essence of the festive season for Lancaster and Stewart, underscoring the importance of family connections during this time of year.
