This statement emerged during a briefing where Rubio addressed concerns raised by Senate Democrats regarding President Donald Trump’s intentions towards the Arctic island.

As reported by the Wall Street Journal, Rubio indicated that Trump views the ownership of Greenland as crucial for national security and to counter the influence of Russian and Chinese naval forces in the Arctic. During the briefing, Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer questioned Rubio about the potential use of military force regarding Greenland and other territories.
