Buducnost Volley’s Quest for Final Four in MEVZA League Heats Up
Following nearly six weeks of competition in various tournaments, Buducnost Volley is set to resume its campaign in the regional MEVZA League. The team from Podgorica has demonstrated strong performance with victories against Budva (3:1) and Maribor (3:0), despite a narrow defeat to Hungary’s MAV Elorea (2:3) after leading by two sets. Currently, Buducnost ranks second in the league and is poised to secure a place in the Final Four as early as this week.
Upcoming Matches and Expectations
Under the guidance of coach Dejan Radic, Buducnost will face two critical matches in Maribor against top Croatian teams, Mursa and Mladost from Zagreb, both scheduled for 14:00 on the respective match days. These games are pivotal in determining their standings in the league. Following these encounters, Buducnost will conclude its league phase with a match against the Austrian team Zadruga in Bleiburg, set for 19:00 on Thursday.
Radic expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming matches, stating, “After an exceptional start in the MEVZA League, where we showcased remarkable quality at the first tournament, we are now facing other highly competitive teams. We eagerly anticipate these matches, aiming to prove our quality once again and secure one of the top four positions leading us to the Final Four.” He also emphasized the team’s motivation, citing their determination to compete at the highest level.
Budva’s Position in the League
Another Montenegrin representative, Budva, will participate in only one match by the end of the year, facing Zadruga in Bleiburg this Wednesday. Budva shares a similar record with Buducnost, holding a score of 2-1 after victories against Maribor and MAV Elorea at home, alongside a defeat to Buducnost. Coach Miljan Boskovic and his team will look to regain momentum as they prepare for their matches against Mladost and Mursa in Zagreb during January.
The MEVZA League continues to draw attention with its competitive spirit, and both Buducnost and Budva are keen to advance in the standings as the tournament progresses. The outcome of these upcoming matches will significantly influence the path to the Final Four, making each game crucial for both teams.
