Chicago Bulls Soar to Unbeaten Start with Giddey’s Career Night
The Chicago Bulls secured their fifth consecutive victory by defeating the New York Knicks 135–125 on October 31, 2025. This win keeps the Bulls unbeaten in the 2025–26 season, marking their best start since the legendary Michael Jordan era. Australian guard Josh Giddey shone brightly, scoring a career-high 32 points, while also contributing 10 rebounds and nine assists. The triumph not only sets an electrifying tone for the regular season but also for their Emirates NBA Cup campaign.
With this victory, the Bulls are currently the only team in the Eastern Conference without a loss. The last time the franchise opened a season this strongly was during the 1996–97 campaign, when they began with a remarkable 12-0 record, ultimately leading to another NBA championship. That iconic squad, featuring Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and Dennis Rodman, finished with a 69–13 record, clinching the Central Division title and securing the top seed in the Eastern Conference.
As the Bulls continue their journey, they may not yet match the accolades of their predecessors, but this season’s roster is younger and brimming with potential. Giddey, who was acquired from the reigning champions, the Oklahoma City Thunder, during the 2024 off-season, is averaging 20 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists in the season’s early games. This impressive performance places him in an elite group, making him only the third player in franchise history to achieve such numbers at this stage, following the footsteps of Pippen in 1993 and Guy Rodgers in 1967.
Giddey’s contributions were recognized with a new four-year contract worth $100 million (£78 million), underscoring his vital role in the Bulls’ resurgence. The average age of the current Bulls squad stands at 25.3, highlighting their youthful energy and eagerness to succeed in front of a passionate fanbase.
Veteran centre Nikola Vucevic adds stability to the team, averaging 19.8 points and 12 rebounds per game. He delivered a strong performance against the Knicks, scoring 26 points and grabbing seven rebounds. His presence on the court is crucial for guiding this young core, helping maintain composure during critical moments and ensuring consistent performance on both ends of the floor.
One noteworthy aspect of this five-game winning streak is that it has been achieved without Coby White, who has yet to make his season debut due to a right calf strain. The former seventh overall pick in 2019 is expected to be sidelined for at least two more weeks. Last season, White averaged a career-high 20.4 points per game, making his absence felt.
In the meantime, fifth-year guard Ayo Dosunmu and sophomore Matas Buzelis have stepped up to fill the void. Dosunmu recorded 22 points and a season-high nine assists in the recent win over New York, while Buzelis showcased his skills with a season-high 27 points in the victory against the Sacramento Kings just days prior.
The Bulls will face the Knicks again on November 3 at Madison Square Garden, as they look to extend their perfect start to the season and maintain their impressive momentum. Fans are eager to see if this young and dynamic team can continue to build on their early success and create a new chapter in Bulls history.
