Dimitrije Nikolic Wins Top Prize at Poetry Festival in Kolasin
The sixth edition of the “Dani Mila Boškovića” festival concluded with the announcement of awards for a traditional poetry competition. The event, held in Kolasin, recognized outstanding contributions to contemporary poetry, culminating in a literary evening dedicated to the author Milo Bošković and his book, “Obnova Tivaide.”
A jury composed of Tatjana Đurišić, who served as president, alongside members Vidak Maslovarić and Nataša Peković, evaluated a total of 142 submitted poems. They unanimously awarded the first prize to Dimitrije Nikolic from Zaječar for his poem titled “Rastanak.” The second prize went to Tino Deželič from Zagreb for his work “Pjesma za starog,” while Milan Todorović from Smederevo received the third prize for his poem “Na Mediteranu.”
According to Danijela Đukić, a librarian at the Narodna biblioteka “Ljubo Anđelić,” votes from young poets across the region were collected from September 5 to October 5. Over the past six years, more than 700 authors have participated in the competition, solidifying Kolasin and the “Dani Mila Boškovića” festival as significant markers on the map of modern poetry and culture.
“An important part of the event is also the anthology of poems titled ‘Tamo kuda se misli sele,’” Đukić emphasized. Each year, 17 authors are featured in this collection, providing a lasting testament to contemporary regional poetry.
During the literary evening, professor Nataša Peković discussed Bošković’s work “Obnova Tivaide,” which represents a manuscript legacy published by the Narodna biblioteka “Radosav Ljumić.” She noted that Milo Bošković is a poet even in prose, highlighting how his novels “Tivaida” and “Obnova kruga” are unified under the title “Obnova Tivaide.”
“This blends narrative style with postmodern literary expression,” Peković explained. She further elaborated that the lyrical quality present is common to both narrative structures, with certain text segments being so lyrical that they are only differentiated from lyrical poetry by their text segmentation.
The festival continues to foster a vibrant literary community, showcasing the talent of emerging poets and reinforcing the cultural significance of Kolasin in the realm of poetry. As the event wraps up, it leaves behind a rich legacy of creativity and expression that resonates with audiences and participants alike.
