Rambo Amadeus Releases New Single Addressing Selfie Culture
Rambo Amadeus has unveiled a new single titled “Can One Selfie?” The release comes as part of the promotional efforts for his upcoming concert at the Dom sindikata in Belgrade on December 20, 2023. In a post on his official Facebook page, Amadeus expressed his thoughts on the pervasive culture surrounding selfies, highlighting both its implications and his personal frustrations.
In the song’s description, Amadeus candidly shares how the selfie phenomenon affects him. He stated, “The selfie culture exhausts me, distracts me, and undermines my personal dignity.” He elaborated on the dilemma it creates, where he feels pressured to either comply with the trend and feel objectified or refuse and grapple with guilt for being perceived as rude. The artist describes the track as an “artistic reaction” to this internal conflict.
Amadeus took a hands-on approach in creating the song, handling the music, lyrics, and arrangement himself. The mixing and mastering were entrusted to Relja Svilar. The track features contributions from other musicians: Vojislav Dizdar on keyboards, Saša Ranković on drums, Miroslav Tovirac on bass, and Rambo himself on guitar.
The single is accompanied by a music video that was edited by Darko Vlaović. In a modern twist, Vlaović utilized artificial intelligence to generate visuals for the project, showcasing the intersection of technology and creativity in contemporary music production.
As the December concert approaches, Amadeus aims to engage fans not just with his music but also with his reflections on a culture that often prioritizes appearance over substance. The release of “Can One Selfie?” serves as a reminder of the complexities surrounding personal expression in the age of social media.
