Florida Man Arrested After Allegedly Stabbing Pregnant Wife

A man in Oakland Park, Florida, has been arrested following the tragic stabbing of his pregnant wife, which occurred in front of their three children. Authorities from the Broward Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic disturbance report at approximately 01:00 a.m. on December 19, 2023. Upon arrival, emergency responders discovered the woman suffering from multiple stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Mario Alejandro Ramirez, was found inside the residence with apparent self-inflicted injuries. Deputies engaged in a struggle with Ramirez while trying to provide care for his wounds. He was ultimately taken into custody and transported to a local hospital for treatment. Following his release, he faces a charge of second-degree murder.

According to information obtained by Local 10 News, the victim was expecting a child and lived in the apartment with Ramirez and their children. One neighbor recounted the scene, stating, “I look and there’s a body on the floor,” while another noted that they witnessed the aftermath of the attack.

Photos from the crime scene, as reported by Local 10 News, showed blood on a window, while a blue tarp was used to cover the victim’s body. Following his initial court appearance, Ramirez was placed under an immigration hold without bond, although his immigration status remains unclear. He has been ordered to undergo both mental health and medical evaluations.
