Man Arrested for Threatening Wife with Knife and Coercion

A man identified as E.K. from Bijelo Polje was taken into custody following serious allegations of domestic violence. The Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Bijelo Polje has initiated criminal proceedings against him, citing credible evidence of threats made against his wife.

The incident occurred on January 11, 2026, at approximately 14:00. According to the official report, E.K. allegedly threatened his wife with a knife in their family home. During a subsequent drive, he escalated his threats, demanding she make a harrowing choice: either he would kill her or she could jump into the Lim River.

Upon reaching a bridge in the area of Strojtanica, E.K. stopped the vehicle and compelled his wife to call their children to say goodbye. In a courageous move, she managed to exit the vehicle and contact the police, leading to his arrest.

Following his apprehension, the prosecutor ordered that E.K. be held for a maximum of 72 hours as investigations continue. The gravity of the situation has raised significant concerns regarding family safety, highlighting the urgent need for protective measures in cases of domestic violence.
