Montenegro’s Clinical Center Suspends Patient Visits Amid Health Concerns

The Clinical Center of Montenegro has suspended visits for hospitalized patients due to health concerns linked to rising infection rates. This decision was announced by the institution and follows recommendations from the hospital’s epidemiology department.

The suspension aims to mitigate the risk of spreading infections, particularly as the flu season and other respiratory illnesses approach. According to the Institute of Public Health of Montenegro and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), an earlier onset of flu and respiratory infections is anticipated this year, posing a greater risk of severe clinical outcomes, especially for those already hospitalized.

Family members of patients can still obtain information regarding their loved ones’ health status by contacting the relevant department by phone every day between 14:00 and 15:00. Additionally, relatives may deliver necessary items for patients undergoing treatment at various units of the Clinical Center. These items can be dropped off daily from 12:00 to 14:00 at the information desk in the main building, the Pediatric Institute, the Oncology Institute, and the clinics for psychiatry, dermatovenerology, and infectious diseases. Staff will ensure that these items reach patients the same day between 14:00 and 16:00.

The Clinical Center emphasizes the importance of this measure and requests understanding and cooperation from the public. Officials remind citizens to adhere to recommended preventive measures to help reduce the spread of influenza. The suspension of visits will remain in effect until the epidemiological situation improves, with updates to be provided timely to the public.
