Russian airstrikes over Ukraine have resulted in the deaths of at least four individuals and left 19 others injured within a span of just 24 hours. The recent attacks involved the launch of approximately 100 drones and one missile, according to Ukraine’s Air Force. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that Russia has deployed around 1,300 attack drones throughout the past week.

The overnight bombardment included the targeting of various regions, with significant impacts noted in the town of Izium in the Kharkiv region. Rescue teams recovered the bodies of two victims from the rubble of a collapsed building on July 15, 2023. Regional Governor Oleh Syniehubov confirmed that additional injuries were reported and emphasized that many homes, including several residential buildings, sustained damage during the attacks.

In the eastern region of Donetsk, authorities reported one fatality and four injuries as a result of the strikes. The situation in the region of Kherson also worsened, with seven individuals injured due to attacks on private homes and multi-storey buildings. The attacks also affected an administrative building and a gas pipeline, escalating the humanitarian crisis in the affected areas.

Zelenskyy highlighted the scale of the recent assaults in a post on social media platform X, stating that Russia had unleashed nearly 1,200 guided aerial bombs along with nine missiles in addition to the drones over the last week. The Odesa region faced particularly severe attacks, with its port and industrial facilities being directly targeted, according to local officials.

In a separate development, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the capture of two additional settlements in the Sumy and Donetsk regions. The ministry reported that Russian troops had taken control of Vysoke in Sumy and Svitle in Donetsk over the past 24 hours. They also claimed to have struck facilities believed to be used for transporting Western weapons, alongside ammunition depots and locations housing Ukrainian troops and foreign fighters.

As the conflict continues, the toll on civilian life grows increasingly severe, highlighting the urgent need for humanitarian assistance in affected regions. The international community remains vigilant as the situation evolves, with ongoing discussions about possible responses to the escalating violence.
