A £10,000 reward has been announced for information leading to the arrest of Ceyhan Dinler, a suspect believed to have fled to Turkey following the brutal murder of his love rival, Cumali Turhan. The incident occurred on November 19, 2024, in Chelmsford, Essex, where Turhan was fatally stabbed and mutilated.

Crimestoppers has launched the appeal, urging anyone with information to step forward to help bring Dinler, aged 38, to justice. According to a police report, Dinler allegedly discovered that Turhan, 45, was in a secret relationship with his girlfriend. This revelation led to a violent confrontation that ended in Turhan’s death.

Detective Chief Inspector Louise Metcalfe of Essex Police emphasized the need for answers for Turhan’s family, stating, “Cumali’s family deserve answers and justice. We will ensure that happens.” Turhan was found with severe injuries, including a stab wound to the neck, and parts of his body mutilated. Evidence suggests he endured significant suffering before his death.

Police discovered Turhan’s body after a 47-day search at a landfill site in Colchester. The investigation revealed that his body had been disposed of in a bin, which was later taken to the landfill by refuse workers. A man named Ciprian Ilie, who assisted in disposing of Turhan’s body, was sentenced to seven years in prison in October 2024 for his involvement in the crime.

The trial highlighted a long-standing dispute between Dinler and Turhan over romantic interests. Phil Breckton, the eastern regional manager at Crimestoppers, stressed the importance of community involvement in the investigation. “If you contact our charity to tell us where Dinler is located, no one will ever know. Cumali Turhan’s family in Turkey and here in the UK are desperate for answers and need justice,” he said.

CCTV footage aired in a Channel 4 documentary, “Catching a Killer: Buried Truths,” showed Dinler and Turhan in The Glove pub shortly before the murder. The footage captured a heated discussion between the two men, who were seen leaving the pub together. Dinler is believed to have lured Turhan to the nearby Barista bar, just a minute’s walk from the local police station.

Detectives noted that evidence from the scene included Turhan’s blood on the ceiling and a bloody fingerprint belonging to Dinler on a table. “He hasn’t just stabbed this person multiple times; he has caused extreme pain to this person by torturing them,” one detective remarked after reviewing the gruesome details of the case.

The appeal for information will remain open until April 6, 2025, and any information can be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers. The search for justice continues as authorities work to locate Ceyhan Dinler.
