Birmingham Shooting Leaves 20-Year-Old in Critical Condition

A shooting incident in Willenhall, a town in the Black Country, has left a 20-year-old man fighting for his life. The event took place on Wordsworth Road on the evening of December 23, 2023, just hours before Christmas Eve. Following the incident, two men, aged 50 and 27, have been arrested by West Midlands Police on suspicion of attempted murder.

Emergency services, including the West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS), were alerted to the situation at 19:28. In response, WMAS dispatched two ambulances, two paramedic officers, a MERIT trauma doctor, and a critical care paramedic to the scene. Upon arrival, they found the man in his 20s with life-threatening injuries. Advanced trauma care was administered on-site, and he was then urgently transported to the hospital for further treatment.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police provided details about the ongoing investigation. “We were alerted by ambulance colleagues at around 7.30pm and attended the scene where the man in his 20s was being treated by paramedics. He was later taken to hospital with injuries which are believed to be life-threatening,” the spokesperson said.
