Thomas Zilliacus Proposes £375 Million Sponsorship Deal for Manchester United

Finnish businessman Thomas Zilliacus has submitted a fresh bid for Manchester United, proposing a sponsorship deal worth £375 million. This new offer comes two years after Zilliacus initially vied for ownership of the club, competing against high-profile bidders such as Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim.

Zilliacus’s previous bid in 2023 aimed to secure either a full or partial stake in Manchester United, which was put on the market by the Glazer family. In an exclusive interview with the Manchester Evening News, he stated, “I have decided to offer Manchester United a sponsorship deal through my company, XXI Century Capital Group. I want to be able to give a Christmas present to Manchester United.”

Emphasizing a collaborative vision, Zilliacus expressed that his motivation extends beyond ownership. “For me, it’s not about owning something. It’s about making Manchester United financially robust so that they can become the number one club, not only in England but in Europe.”

The proposed sponsorship aims to boost global fan engagement, which Zilliacus believes is essential for the club’s revitalization. “With this money, Manchester United could significantly strengthen their squad and pursue other initiatives,” he added, highlighting his confidence in the unique program designed to activate fan involvement worldwide.

In his vision, Zilliacus is open to collaborating with Ratcliffe rather than competing against him. He mentioned, “I would love to work with Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
