Ukraine Strikes Russian Military with Long-Range Attacks, Destroying 2,000 Weapons
Ukraine’s military has executed a significant attack on a Russian ammunition depot, resulting in the destruction of approximately 2,000 weapons. The strike targeted a warehouse at Donetsk Airport, located in occupied Ukraine, where it is reported that up to 1,000 assembled Shahed drones and an additional 1,500 warheads were stored. The attack was carried out using various weapon systems, including the FP-2 long-range drone. Satellite imagery has validated the destruction of the depot, according to the Ukrainian military.
In addition to the primary target, further assaults impacted arms depots in Horlivka and Dovzhansk, as well as a fuel storage facility in Luhansk. Ukrainian forces also targeted the Kirovske airfield in Crimea, destroying two hangars that housed Orion drones. This airfield serves as a crucial base for Russian drone operations and has been attacked multiple times.
Ukrainian forces expanded their operations by deploying long-range, US-made ATACMS missiles to strike a military training ground deep within Russia. The missiles hit the Pogonovo army training ground in the Voronezh region, where a significant number of Russian troops were present at the time. Analysts in the Ukrainian military are currently assessing the extent of Russian casualties resulting from this operation. The Pogonovo base functions as one of Russia’s central facilities for preparing soldiers for the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
The Pentagon has authorized Ukraine to utilize its long-range missiles for strikes on targets deep within Russian territory. The ATACMS missiles have a range of up to 300 kilometers, allowing them to reach various regions in Russia, including Voronezh, Bryansk, Kursk, and Belgorod. These missiles, equipped with a 200-kilogram warhead, deliver a significantly greater impact compared to Ukraine’s long-range drones.
The introduction of these missiles compels the Russian military command to reposition its air defense systems from frontline areas to protect critical rear zones. This strategic shift alleviates pressure on Ukrainian fighter jets and facilitates deeper drone operations within territories controlled by Russia.
As the conflict continues, the effectiveness of Ukraine’s recent strikes highlights the evolving dynamics of military engagement in the region, with both sides adapting to the challenges posed by advanced weaponry and tactical maneuvers.
