Authorities in Montenegro have arrested five individuals in connection with drug-related offenses during a significant operation targeting street-level drug trafficking. The arrests took place in the capital city, Podgorica, and in Pljevlja as part of a broader initiative named Operation “FROM.” This operation aims to combat the illegal production, possession, and distribution of narcotics.

The arrested individuals include S.G. (49) from Podgorica, and four others from Pljevlja: N.K. (22), Dž.K. (36), D.H. (30), and E.H. (21). These arrests are part of ongoing efforts by the Police Administration of Montenegro to dismantle networks of street dealers.

According to a statement from the Police Administration, law enforcement officials have filed a total of 15 criminal charges against 16 individuals as part of this investigation. Of these, nine charges were related to drug offenses, implicating ten people in activities concerning the abuse of narcotic substances. Additionally, four charges were made against four individuals for crimes associated with illegal border crossings and human trafficking, while two suspects face allegations of serious theft.

The police also reported filing ten misdemeanor charges against ten people for violations of the Law on Prevention of Drug Abuse. The operation led to the seizure of various narcotics, including marijuana, cocaine, heroin, amphetamines, and other synthetic drugs. Furthermore, authorities confiscated a vehicle linked to these activities.

The Police Administration reiterated its commitment to intensifying efforts aimed at identifying, prosecuting, and dismantling drug trafficking networks across the country. This proactive approach is designed not only to reduce street-level drug sales but also to address all forms of drug abuse.

As the situation continues to develop, authorities are expected to maintain a rigorous stance against drug-related crimes, underscoring the importance of public safety and community health.
