Professor Green Reveals Wedding Pressure Nearly Led to Cancellation

Rapper Professor Green, whose real name is Stephen Manderson, disclosed that he nearly called off his wedding to reality television star Millie Mackintosh due to the pressure they felt to marry. The couple tied the knot in a lavish ceremony at Babington House in Somerset in 2013, but their relationship ultimately ended in divorce in 2016.
During an appearance on Jamie Laing‘s podcast, *Great Company*, Green revealed that both he and Mackintosh experienced significant anxiety about their wedding. “If there wasn’t that pressure, we may have never got married,” he stated. He recalled discussing his feelings with close friends, questioning whether he was experiencing cold feet. “One of them said yes,” he noted, “and one of them said no. I won’t put him in it, because it’s not their responsibility.”
Despite the tumultuous feelings surrounding their marriage, Green emphasized that their love was genuine, stating they did not marry for the wrong reasons. He reflected on their relationship dynamics, acknowledging, “It was probably an element of trauma bonding.” He recognized his role in the challenges they faced, admitting, “I had a significant part in that, 50 percent at least, because there were two of us in the situation, and it didn’t work out.”
Green maintains a positive outlook regarding Mackintosh, expressing no resentment and describing her as “gorgeous.” The two have since reconnected and discussed their experiences with undiagnosed ADHD. “There was undiagnosed neurodivergence between both of us,” he explained. “We had a conversation about this recently, and it makes sense.”
Mackintosh, for her part, later revealed her own concerns about their marriage, confessing that she felt it “wasn’t right” but was too afraid to cancel the wedding due to the fear of disappointing others. Their divorce was finalized in May 2016, coinciding with her public announcement of a new relationship with fellow *Made in Chelsea* star Hugo Taylor. Mackintosh and Taylor married in 2018 and are raising two daughters, Sienna and Aurelia, in Chelsea.
Currently, Professor Green is in a relationship with actor Karima McAdams and welcomed their first child, Slimane Ray Manderson, in 2021. As both Green and Mackintosh move forward in their lives, they continue to reflect on their past and the lessons learned from their relationship.
