Former Owner Passes the Torch at Cafe Vic Ryn in Lisburn

The beloved Cafe Vic Ryn in Lisburn has entered a new chapter as its founder, Jacqueline Evans, officially handed over ownership to Caleb, the cafe’s long-time manager. This transition marks the end of an era for the popular eatery, which has been a staple in the community since its establishment in 2004.
Jacqueline announced the change during a heartfelt message to customers and staff, reflecting on the cafe’s remarkable journey. “Twenty-one years ago, Cafe Vic Ryn opened its doors, and wow, what a ride it’s been!” she stated. Under her stewardship, the cafe became renowned for its exceptional food, particularly its famous scones and the signature pink pavlova. Jacqueline highlighted that the establishment reinvented the scone experience, now offering over 50 varieties that attracted visitors from across the country.
She expressed her gratitude towards the loyal customers, suppliers, and staff who have supported the cafe throughout the years. “Your support has been a blessing. We love you all, and it’s been our joy to serve you,” Jacqueline said. She also emphasized her commitment to supporting local causes, mentioning partnerships with organizations like Stepping Stones and Mencap, which have provided valuable opportunities for young people in the community.
As she reminisced about her time at the cafe, Jacqueline thanked every team member—past and present—who contributed to its success. “It’s been a journey—through the tough times, the joyful times, and everything in between. And I’ve loved every single minute,” she remarked.
Caleb, who has spent the last 15 years at Cafe Vic Ryn, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to take ownership. He stated, “I am deeply honoured and humbled to be given the opportunity to take on ownership of Cafe Vic Ryn, a company that has proudly served our community for the past 21 years.” His long tenure at the cafe has cemented his connection to the establishment, and he thanked Jacqueline for entrusting him with its future.
Looking forward, Caleb reassured patrons that it would be “business as usual,” maintaining the same quality and service that customers have come to expect. He also noted that Jacqueline would continue to contribute her baking skills, ensuring a smooth transition as he takes over operations.
“I’m excited for the future of Cafe Vic Ryn and look forward to sharing the next chapter with all of you,” Caleb concluded, leaving customers eager to see how the cafe will evolve under new management while preserving its cherished legacy.
As the community bids farewell to Jacqueline as the owner, it remains clear that her impact on the cafe and the local landscape will not be forgotten. The new leadership under Caleb promises to honor the traditions that have made Cafe Vic Ryn a cherished destination for many.
