Paul Weller and Alex James Set for Summer Concerts in Kent

Two renowned musicians, Paul Weller and Alex James, have announced performances in Kent during the summer of 2024. Fans eager to attend these highly anticipated concerts at Dreamland’s Scenic Stage in Margate will need to act quickly as tickets go on general sale tomorrow, October 31, 2023.

Weller, known for his time with legendary band The Jam, will perform on July 3, 2024, at 10:00 hours. He returns to the open-air venue after a successful performance in 2022, promising a night enriched with his classic hits and special guest appearances. Hailing from the 1970s, The Jam rose to fame with their debut single, “In the City,” followed by a succession of popular tracks such as “Going Underground” and “Town Called Malice.” Weller’s influence on the music scene has been profound, earning him the nickname The Modfather and four BRIT Awards throughout his solo career, which began after The Jam disbanded in 1982.

Alex James, who gained fame as the bassist of Blur, will bring his Britpop Classical concert to Dreamland on July 24, 2024, with tickets available from 12:00 hours. This marks the first time James will take this unique concert on the road, where classic Britpop songs are reimagined in a symphonic format. The concert will feature the London Concert Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, alongside guest vocalists such as Phil Daniels and Saffron from Republica.

James expressed his enthusiasm about the tour, stating, “Somehow, all of these songs mean more to people now than they did when they were first released. They really resonate with my kids’ generation too.” He emphasized the excitement of reviving these classics with a full orchestra and a dynamic band, following a successful debut at his festival, Big Feastival, earlier this year.

Both concerts are set to celebrate the rich musical heritage of the UK, promising unforgettable experiences for fans of all ages. Tickets for Weller and James are expected to sell quickly, highlighting the enduring popularity of these iconic artists.
