Montenegro’s President Milatović to Address UN Social Development Summit

Montenegro’s President Jakov Milatović will participate in the Second World Summit on Social Development, taking place in Doha, Qatar, from November 4 to 6, 2023. This event, convened at the invitation of United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, marks a significant gathering of heads of state and government, occurring 30 years after the inaugural summit held in Copenhagen in 1995.

During the summit, President Milatović will address the plenary session and co-chair a high-level roundtable focused on critical issues such as social inclusion, employment, and sustainable development. His speech is expected to underscore the importance of ongoing reforms and economic development in Montenegro. According to a statement from his office, he will emphasize that Montenegro must not remain stagnant but should decisively continue on its path of reform, aiming to strengthen the economy, create new jobs, and foster an inclusive society where every citizen has the opportunity to succeed.

In addition to his formal address, President Milatović is scheduled to meet with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. The discussions will center on enhancing political dialogue and developing cooperation between Montenegro and Qatar. Areas of focus will include investments, tourism, and energy, reflecting a commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.
