Passengers Score Free Extra Legroom on Major Airlines
Passengers flying with major airlines such as Ryanair, easyJet, and British Airways can now benefit from extra legroom at no additional cost by following a simple tip. Research conducted by the website AeroLopa reveals that strategic seating choices can provide passengers with increased space during flights to popular European destinations.
Choosing specific seats on certain aircraft can yield more legroom than others, not just at emergency exits. For instance, Ryanair offers extra space on its Boeing 737-800 model, which forms the backbone of its fleet with over 400 aircraft. Passengers seated in seats D, E, and F from rows 3 to 15 will enjoy a seat pitch of 29.5 inches, which is half an inch more than the standard offered on the left side of the same rows. These seats are available for as little as £4.50, compared to £12 for designated ‘extra legroom’ options. A spokesperson from Ryanair noted, “Your average seat pitch is 29 inches, which is one inch more than the industry standard of 28 inches. All Ryanair passengers can choose their preferred seat if they so wish at prices which start from £4.50.”
On the other hand, easyJet primarily operates Airbus aircraft, such as the A320-214. Passengers flying this model can find half an inch more legroom on the right side in rows 14 to 29. Standard seats start at £0.99, while extra legroom options begin at £7.99. An easyJet spokesperson stated, “EasyJet’s fleet includes a range of aircraft with between 156 and 235 seats, and the majority of our aircraft have a minimum seat pitch of 29 inches.”
When it comes to British Airways, the airline operates a mixed fleet of Airbus and Boeing aircraft. On long-haul flights featuring the Boeing 787-8 Type 78E, passengers can find enhanced legroom in rows 22-24 and 31 to 34, where legroom measures 32.4 inches, significantly more than the 31 inches offered in most seats. Conversely, for shorter flights on the Airbus A320 or Airbus A320neo, row 30 provides only 28 inches of space, which is an inch less than the standard. Additionally, in the Airbus A321 Type 21V, passengers not seated in the Club Europe section can benefit from a legroom of 30.1 inches in rows 15 to 22, an increase of 1.1 inches compared to standard seating.
With these insights, passengers can make informed decisions when booking their flights, ensuring a more comfortable experience while traveling across Europe.
