Blake Lively Wins Legal Battle as Defamation Suit Against Her Dismissed
Blake Lively achieved a significant legal victory this week when a defamation lawsuit against her was dismissed by a Texas court. The suit, initiated by the public relations firm Street Relations Inc. and its owner Jed Wallace, was thrown out due to a lack of personal jurisdiction, determining that Texas was not the appropriate venue for the case.
Lively, 38, had previously named Wallace and his company in her own lawsuit filed last year connected to the production of It Ends with Us. According to a representative for Lively, this recent court ruling allows her and her legal team to prepare a robust defense for an upcoming trial scheduled for March 2025 in New York.
Details of the Legal Proceedings
The defamation lawsuit was originally filed in February 2025, following accusations made by Lively against Baldoni, who directed It Ends with Us. In her complaint, Lively accused Baldoni of sexual harassment, including body shaming and orchestrating a campaign to damage her reputation. The actress’s allegations have overshadowed the film’s commercial success, which grossed $148 million domestically and $350 million globally since its release in August 2024.
In her lawsuit, Lively named several individuals associated with Baldoni, including executives from Wayfarer Studios, the film’s production company. Lively’s representative confirmed that this ruling clears all retaliatory lawsuits filed against her by Baldoni and his associates.
Ongoing Legal Tensions
Conversely, Baldoni has pursued his own legal action, initially seeking $250 million in damages from The New York Times for its coverage of the allegations, which he later increased to $400 million in January 2025, naming Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and her publicist as defendants. However, this lawsuit was dismissed in June 2025.
“With this decision, all of the retaliatory lawsuits filed against Blake Lively by Justin Baldoni and their crisis communications teams have been dismissed,” Lively’s representative stated.
As both parties prepare for the March trial, Lively maintains her position regarding the allegations against Baldoni, while he continues to deny all claims made against him. The ongoing legal disputes between the actors highlight significant tensions surrounding the film and its production.
The situation remains fluid as both sides advance their respective legal arguments in a highly publicized case that has drawn considerable media attention. As the trial approaches, the implications of these legal battles will likely extend beyond the courtroom, affecting the reputations and careers of those involved.
