Belfast Launches Santa’s Post Office as 10,000 Letters Head North
The festive spirit has arrived in Belfast with the opening of Santa’s Post Office, located at 2 Royal Avenue. This year, the initiative anticipates sending over 10,000 letters to Santa Claus at the North Pole. The Post Office will be operational from November 16 to December 21, 2023, offering a range of free activities for families visiting the city center.
Visitors can expect a magical winter wonderland experience upon arrival. Santa’s Sleigh will be available for photographs, and a special sensory wall aims to immerse children in the festive atmosphere. Santa’s elves will assist children in writing their letters, providing pencils and paper, while also hosting various arts and crafts sessions throughout the event.
To ensure an inclusive environment, two dedicated quiet evenings will take place on December 3 and December 17. These ticketed events are designed for children who may find busy settings overwhelming. Additionally, a British Sign Language (BSL) evening is scheduled for December 10, further enhancing accessibility. Tickets for these special evenings are free and can be booked at belfastone.co.uk.
Belfast’s city center is also adorned with new lighting installations, contributing to the festive atmosphere. The opening of the Belfast Christmas Market and the CastleCourt Santa Parade will add to the seasonal charm. Visitors will also have the opportunity to enjoy a train ride to Santa’s Grotto at Victoria Square, enhancing the holiday experience.
Martina Connolly, CEO of Belfast One BID, expressed enthusiasm about the city’s festive offerings. “Our city center truly lights up at Christmas,” she stated. “We aim to meet the huge demand we have experienced in recent years, and we’re expecting over 10,000 letters to Santa to magically make their way to the North Pole, with all of their wishes for Christmas Day.”
The Santa’s Post Office initiative highlights Belfast’s commitment to creating a vibrant and inclusive holiday environment. With numerous free family activities, the city is set to welcome visitors and spread festive cheer as Christmas approaches.
