Sainsbury’s has introduced a new range of candles inspired by the premium brand Jo Malone, now available for just £3. Part of the supermarket’s Habitat collection, these candles are being praised by customers as perfect stocking fillers in anticipation of the upcoming festive season.
The candles have gained attention on social media, particularly in the popular Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK. A user named Charlene shared her excitement, stating, “Any candle lovers these are reduced to £2 make nice stocking fillers I’m giving them to my cleaning clients.” Her post featured a photo of the vibrant candles, showcasing different fragrances, which quickly drew enthusiastic responses from other users.
The Habitat candles are currently listed at £3 on the Sainsbury’s website. Charlene noted that she found some for a slightly lower price at her local shop, suggesting that shoppers explore nearby stores for potential deals. The response from customers has been overwhelmingly positive, with comments highlighting the affordability and quality of the products. One user remarked, “Wow that’s a good price for Habitat,” while another mentioned that similar candles are available at Lidl.
Fragrance Options and Design
Sainsbury’s offers three distinct fragrances for the Habitat Votive Candle with Lid: Mandarin and Basil, Rose and Amber, and Pomegranate and Baies. Each candle is presented in a frosted glass container, featuring cream-colored wax and a decorative silver lid adorned with a black ribbon that displays the word ‘Habitat’.
The aroma of these candles closely resembles that of Jo Malone’s renowned scents. The Mandarin and Basil candle is described as having a “refreshing” citrus aroma with earthy, herbal undertones. The product description states: “This lovely luxe votive candle has a citrusy aroma blended beautifully with earthy, herbal undertones.” The Rose and Amber option is characterized by a warm and sweet fragrance, described as “blissful.” Meanwhile, the Pomegranate and Baies candle is noted for its rich and fruity scent, offering a delightful combination of sweet, cool, and tangy notes reminiscent of juicy berries with floral hints.
At a weight of 60g, these candles provide significant value for customers. In comparison, Jo Malone’s Pomegranate Noir candle retails at £28 for 65g, allowing Sainsbury’s shoppers to save £25 when opting for a similar alternative.
Background on Habitat’s Acquisition by Sainsbury’s
Habitat became part of Sainsbury’s portfolio on September 2, 2016, following the supermarket’s acquisition of the Home Retail Group for £1.4 billion. The Home Retail Group owned both Habitat and Argos, expanding Sainsbury’s offerings in the home goods sector.
With the festive season approaching, Sainsbury’s new Habitat candles present an attractive option for consumers looking to add a touch of elegance to their gifting. The combination of appealing design, delightful fragrances, and an accessible price point positions these candles as a popular choice for holiday shopping.
