Darmstadt-based startup Genow has successfully raised €1.65 million in seed funding to enhance its knowledge management platform, aimed at addressing the persistent issue of fragmented corporate knowledge. This funding round was led by High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF) with contributions from BMH and several angel investors, including Markus Becker, Sebastian Mönnich, and Dr. Mario Lenz.

The investment will enable Genow to further develop its platform, named Wingman, which aims to streamline the management of scattered internal knowledge within large organizations. According to Sara Jourdan, CEO and co-founder of Genow, knowledge management remains a significant challenge, with many employees reportedly spending between 20 to 30 percent of their workday searching for information across unstructured datasets.

Transforming Corporate Knowledge Management

Founded in 2023 as a spin-off from TU Darmstadt, Genow’s team includes industry experts such as CTO Dr. Timo Koppe, who has a background in information systems and manufacturing, along with product lead Adrian Glauben. They identified a critical gap in knowledge accessibility as employees often struggle to find necessary information scattered across various platforms, including SharePoint, Jira, and Confluence.

Genow’s Wingman platform consolidates data from these disparate sources into a single, user-friendly interface. The platform enriches the data by adding company-specific context, enabling organizations to provide accurate answers to queries while also identifying existing knowledge gaps. This functionality allows companies to tailor the platform for various departments, such as HR, sales, compliance, and customer service.

Jourdan emphasizes the platform’s enterprise readiness, stating, “Wingman can be delivered as a SaaS model or deployed fully within a customer’s own Google Cloud environment, ensuring maximum control, transparency, and data security.” This flexibility positions Wingman as a robust solution for organizations looking to enhance their internal knowledge operations.

Future Growth and Company Culture

Looking ahead, Genow aims to scale its technology, expand its customer base, and increase its international presence over the next three to five years. A key milestone will be the launch of the Agent Suite, designed to simplify the configuration and scaling of specialized Knowledge Agents on existing proprietary data systems. The company is also focused on improving data integration capabilities to ensure Wingman remains a leading platform in enterprise knowledge management.

On the topic of company culture, Jourdan highlights the importance of diversity within the tech industry. She notes the underrepresentation of women in technical and leadership roles, emphasizing her commitment to promoting female talent at Genow. “I have set a personal goal to encourage women not only in tech and engineering roles but also in leadership positions,” she states.

Jourdan’s message to women entering the tech field is clear: “Don’t let yourself be defined by stereotypes or average numbers. In the startup world, it is often decisive to deviate from the average, and many women in tech bring exactly this ability—not to be guided too much by benchmarks but to trust their path.”

As Genow prepares for its next phase of growth, the company’s commitment to addressing knowledge fragmentation in large organizations may set new standards in the field of enterprise knowledge management.
