Stratford Town Centre Enhances Safety Measures This Summer

Stratford town centre is undergoing significant safety enhancements this summer as part of the Safer Streets Summer initiative. This program, driven by the efforts of the Warwickshire Police and Crime Commissioner, Philip Seccombe, aims to address community concerns regarding anti-social behaviour, serious violence, and retail crime.
Community Engagement and Collaborative Efforts
As one of seven town centre locations across Warwickshire benefiting from this initiative, Stratford is witnessing an increase in visible patrols and proactive engagement from various partners. Local businesses, residents, and visitors are being encouraged to participate in discussions on safety, with police officers actively addressing issues that affect the community.
The initiative, coordinated by the Warwickshire Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, aligns with the Home Office’s national campaign running until the end of September. Seccombe expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, “Enhancing neighbourhood policing is a key priority within my Police and Crime Plan. I am thrilled to see first-hand the benefits our town centres gain from neighbourhood officers and partner agencies being out on patrol to tackle and prevent local issues.”
Local Authorities and Community Support
Stratford’s Safer Neighbourhood Inspector, Jake Kibblewhite, echoed Seccombe’s sentiments, highlighting the dedicated efforts of the Safer Neighbourhood Team in reducing crime and improving community safety. He noted, “We’re very proud of our Safer Neighbourhood Team in Stratford and the efforts they are making to curb anti-social behaviour and crime in the town.”
Kibblewhite further emphasized the importance of collaboration, mentioning partnerships with the Business Improvement District, Stratford District Council, and various agencies. These collaborations aim to provide the best possible service for residents and ensure that the team remains accessible to anyone with concerns.
Coun Dale Bridgewater, the community safety spokesperson for Stratford District Council, added, “Keeping town centre streets safe is critical to the quality of life of local residents and the local economy. It is a hugely important task and one that takes the efforts and expertise of a range of agencies. I’m pleased to see the County Council playing its part.”
With community safety being a top priority, the ongoing efforts of local authorities and law enforcement agencies aim to foster a safer environment in Stratford town centre, providing reassurance to residents and visitors alike.
