Royal Caribbean Introduces Fees for Missed Dinner Reservations
Royal Caribbean, one of the largest cruise lines globally, has announced a new policy that will charge passengers for missed dinner reservations. Effective immediately, this change aims to manage the demand for dining experiences aboard its ships, which serve millions of guests annually.
The cruise line, which operates a fleet of nearly 30 vessels, is introducing a fee of **$25 per person** for any dinner reservation that is not honored or canceled within **24 hours**. This policy specifically targets the onboard specialty restaurants, which are known for their limited seating and high demand.
Details of the New Policy
Guests who miss reservations at premium dining venues will face significantly higher charges. For exclusive experiences at restaurants such as **Chef’s Table**, **Omakase**, and the **Empire Supper Club**, the fee escalates to **$50** per person. Additionally, for bookings at the **Celebration Table**, the fee will be half of the overall experience cost. Notably, the new policy does not apply to **Star Class** and **Dining Package** reservations.
According to a statement from Royal Caribbean, “A **24-hour cancellation** period will be enforced for all specialty dining reservations and culinary experiences, excluding Star Class and Dining Package reservations.” The cruise line emphasized that this change is intended to enhance the dining experience for all passengers, particularly in venues with limited capacity.
Impact on Passengers
As cruise ships evolve into floating entertainment hubs, distractions abound, from live performances to poolside activities. Royal Caribbean’s latest policy serves as a reminder for passengers to prioritize their dining plans to avoid unnecessary charges.
The cruise line is well-known for its extensive range of amenities, including water parks, pools, and numerous dining options. Its latest ship, **Legend of the Seas**, launched just last month, weighing in at a remarkable **250,000 tonnes** and boasting **21 bars** and **23 restaurants**. This growth reflects the increasing popularity of cruising as a vacation choice, where culinary experiences play a significant role.
Royal Caribbean’s new reservation policy highlights the company’s commitment to providing sought-after dining experiences while balancing passenger enjoyment and operational efficiency. As the cruise industry continues to recover, such measures may become a standard approach to ensure that all guests can enjoy the amenities offered on board.
Further inquiries regarding the policy have been directed to Royal Caribbean, with hopes of clarifying any additional details that may affect future cruise-goers.
