Camilla Kerslake Takes Steps to Shield Marriage from ‘Strictly Curse’

Former England rugby captain Chris Robshaw is preparing to compete in the popular dance competition Strictly Come Dancing, which returns this weekend. As he gears up for the show, his wife, Camilla Kerslake, is proactively addressing concerns surrounding the show’s notorious “curse,” which has historically led to romantic upheavals among contestants.
Camilla, 37, and Chris, 39, who married in 2018, are taking steps to ensure their marriage remains strong amidst the pressures of the competition. Reports suggest that Camilla has invited Chris’s professional dance partner over for dinner, aiming to foster a friendly relationship before the show begins. An insider commented, “Camilla is a woman’s woman. She knows it’s inevitable that women will be compared and pitted against each other, but she won’t stand for that.”
By cultivating camaraderie, Camilla hopes to eliminate any potential gossip surrounding the “Strictly curse.” The curse has become a significant topic since the show’s inception in 2004, with many contestants developing romantic relationships with their dance partners, often at the expense of their long-term partnerships.
Notable examples include Rachel Riley, who ended her marriage to marry professional dancer Pasha Kovalev in 2019, and Stacey Dooley, who left her partner Sam Tucknott to start a family with fellow dancer Kevin Clifton. Comedian Seann Walsh faced a public breakup after being photographed kissing his dance partner, Katya Jones.
As Chris prepares for his debut on the dance floor, he supports Camilla’s efforts to build a positive rapport with his partner. Friends indicate that Chris believes the two women will connect well and has humorously remarked that he might become the third wheel.
Addressing Personal Challenges
Beyond the dance competition, the couple has recently navigated a serious personal challenge. Earlier this year, they were victims of a stalking incident, prompting Camilla to express gratitude towards the media for their sensitive handling of the situation.
In a statement, she said, “Chris and I are so grateful to the press for handling a very difficult situation with such sensitivity. It’s meant we can focus on keeping our little family safe.” Camilla added that they are determined not to let this experience define them. “From here, we’re choosing to move forward. This won’t define us and instead, we’ll be focusing on our family and the exciting journey ahead with Strictly.”
Chris joins a diverse cast of contestants this season, including celebrity figures such as Dani Dyer, Vicky Pattison, and George Clarke. The series is set to officially launch this weekend with the pairing-up episode, marking the beginning of the live competition.
As the couple navigates the challenges of public life and the dancefloor, their commitment to each other remains a focal point amidst the excitement of the upcoming season.
