Christmas Spectacle: Wimpole Estate’s Light Trail Returns for 2025

A beloved holiday tradition is set to enchant visitors once more as the illuminated light trail returns to the picturesque Wimpole Estate in Cambridge. Scheduled from November 21, 2025, to January 3, 2026, the event, known as Christmas at Wimpole, promises to deliver a magical after-dark experience for families and friends alike.
This year, the event will showcase a range of new installations, including a breathtaking Christmas Cathedral and an extensive Sea of Light. Alongside these fresh additions, visitors can also look forward to cherished features from previous years, creating a delightful blend of the new and the familiar. Attendees will be treated to an immersive journey through Wimpole’s historic parkland, all set to a heartwarming soundtrack filled with festive classics.
The trail is designed to captivate audiences of all ages, with vibrant displays such as a colour-changing neon tree and whimsical rocking robins. Notably, there will be an Instagram-friendly glowing tunnel, adorned with twinkling lights that illuminate the path, enhancing the festive atmosphere. Children can also anticipate a special visit from Father Christmas, who will make appearances along the trail at various intervals.
Food and drink options are an essential part of the experience. Attendees will find an array of seasonal treats offered by selected street food vendors. Whether guests are in the mood for a spiced winter drink, rich hot chocolate, or toasted marshmallows, there will be something to satisfy every palate.
Creating an Eco-Friendly Experience
Christmas at Wimpole is produced by the award-winning light trail specialists, Culture Creative, in collaboration with Raymond Gubbay Ltd, a division of Sony Music. Over the years, the event has become a highlight in the UK’s festive calendar. The organizers are committed to sustainability, utilizing generators powered by renewable HVO biofuel and ensuring all lighting is now 100% LED.
Wimpole Estate itself is a working estate with a rich history spanning approximately 2,000 years. Managed by the National Trust, it features expansive grounds that encompass 600 acres of landscaped parkland, gardens, and a striking mansion. This stunning backdrop makes it an ideal location for an enchanting light display.
