Santa Launches Festive Season at Tenby’s Christmas Lights Event
Santa Claus made an early visit to the coastal town of Tenby, Wales, on December 1, 2023, to officially commence the festive season. The event, featuring the annual Christmas lights switch-on, attracted hundreds of locals and visitors eager to partake in a day filled with entertainment and community spirit.
Festivities kicked off with the popular Tenby Santa Run, organized by the Tenby Round Table. This year marked a record turnout, with nearly 400 entrants donning Santa suits to race through the picturesque streets. Participants enjoyed stunning views of Tenby’s harbour and beaches as they ran to support local charities. A representative from the Tenby Round Table expressed gratitude for the impressive turnout, stating, “Thanks to everyone who made this the biggest Tenby Santa Run ever! Almost 400 entrants starting the Christmas season the right way! What’s even better is that all money raised will go straight back to supporting local charities and good causes in our community. Merry Christmas!”
As the afternoon progressed, the atmosphere was filled with live music and market stalls, enhancing the festive spirit. DJ Steve Briers provided lively tunes, creating an enjoyable environment for attendees of all ages. The event not only brought the community together but also served as a reminder of the importance of supporting local initiatives during the holiday season.
At approximately 16:45, the highly anticipated arrival of Santa took place. He was escorted to the event by the Tenby RNLI and the local fire crew, just in time to illuminate the Christmas tree lights outside St Mary’s Church. This moment marked the official start of the holiday celebrations in Tenby, much to the delight of the gathered crowd.
The Christmas lights switch-on in Tenby is a cherished tradition that signals the beginning of the festive season for many residents. This year’s event not only celebrated the holiday spirit but also highlighted the community’s commitment to supporting local causes, making it a memorable day for all involved.
