Future Solicitor Secures Prestigious Apprenticeship After Success at Coleg Cambria
																								
												
												
											A promising career in law awaits Simona Kostova, who has secured a highly sought-after solicitor degree apprenticeship after excelling at Coleg Cambria. The college, located in Wrexham, Deeside, Llysfasi, and Northop, has played a crucial role in her development, as she prepares to embark on a six-year journey that combines academic study with practical work experience.
Raised in Buckley and an alumna of Elfed High School, Simona studied at the Deeside Sixth Form Centre, where she received invaluable support from her lecturers. She will begin her apprenticeship in Manchester, where her responsibilities will evolve from administrative tasks to managing her own legal cases as she progresses through her training. With aspirations to specialise in fraud and fraudulent motor claims, Simona expressed her gratitude for her time at Cambria, stating, “I loved my time at Cambria – the support from staff and lecturers was incredible. I’m really looking forward to the challenge ahead, gaining my degree while also working in practice.”
Celebrating Academic Achievements
Simona is among several students from Deeside who are celebrating their academic successes and preparing for the next stages of their educational journeys. Isabelle King achieved an A in Law, A* in Sociology, and A in Politics. Inspired by the diverse opportunities and supportive teaching environment at Coleg Cambria, she is set to pursue a degree in Broadcast Journalism at university.
Another standout student, Alexander McLean, earned an A* in Welsh, an A in Politics, a C in History, and a B in the Welsh Baccalaureate. He highlighted his participation in the Urdd Eisteddfod as a significant achievement, where he placed second in the prestigious Medal y Dysgwr competition. Alexander will now continue his studies in Politics at university.
Similarly, Sam Mawdsley secured commendable grades in Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry, Physics, and the Welsh Baccalaureate. He will begin a degree in Physics with Astrophysics at Lancaster University.

Mim Riddell, Head of Deeside Sixth and Assistant Principal for Academic Studies at Coleg Cambria, praised Simona and her peers for their dedication and hard work. “Simona and her peers are shining examples of what can be achieved through hard work, determination, and the outstanding teaching at Coleg Cambria. We wish them all the best as they move forward into the next stage of their journeys,” she stated.
