Authorities in Montenegro have arrested five individuals in connection with illegal drug activities in the cities of Podgorica and Pljevlja. The arrested individuals include S.G. (49) from Podgorica, along with N.K. (22), Dž.K. (36), D.H. (30), and E.H. (21) from Pljevlja. These arrests are part of a broader crackdown on the production, possession, and distribution of narcotics across the region.
According to the Police Administration of Montenegro, 15 criminal charges have been filed against a total of 16 individuals as a result of this operation. Among these, nine charges were directed at ten people for offenses related to drug abuse, while four charges were filed against four individuals for illegal border crossing and human trafficking. Additionally, two individuals are suspected of serious theft.
The police report also indicated that ten misdemeanour charges were filed against ten people for violations of the Law on Prevention of Drug Abuse. Various types of narcotics were seized during the operation, including marijuana, cocaine, heroin, amphetamines, and other synthetic drugs. Law enforcement also confiscated a vehicle used in these illegal activities.
Continued Efforts Against Drug Trafficking
The Police Administration emphasized that they will continue their proactive approach in identifying, prosecuting, and dismantling street dealer networks throughout the country. Their ongoing commitment aims to suppress all forms of drug abuse and trafficking.
This recent operation highlights the increasing efforts by Montenegrin authorities to tackle drug-related crimes and ensure public safety. The police are determined to address the challenges posed by drug trafficking, which has significant implications for community health and security.
