Princess Kate Celebrates 20th Anniversary of Evelina London Hospital

Princess Kate, the Princess of Wales, has issued a heartfelt statement to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Evelina London Children’s Hospital, a charity she has supported as patron since 2018. In her message, she highlighted the significant impact the hospital has had on thousands of children and young people over the past two decades.

In her statement, Kate, 43, expressed her delight in celebrating the milestone of the “iconic hospital building.” She noted that since its opening, Evelina London has been able to care for nearly three times as many children as it did at its inception. The Princess emphasized that the facility symbolizes “love, healing and hope” and has profoundly influenced countless lives.

Emphasizing Compassion and Expertise

Kate acknowledged the role of the hospital’s environment in supporting children during challenging times. She remarked, “As I know from my visits, the building’s bright, welcoming spaces and wonderful light-filled atrium ensure children feel safe, supported and nurtured as they face whatever challenges lie ahead.”

The Princess also praised the dedication of the hospital staff, stating, “What makes this building so special is the remarkable staff, whose compassion and expertise shine through in every corner of the hospital, and create an environment where families feel cared for and uplifted.”

Looking to the future, she expressed optimism for the hospital’s growth, stating that even more children will benefit from the “world-class care” that defines Evelina, a place where “healing begins with connection, and every child is cherished.”

A Longstanding Commitment

The Princess has made several visits to the Evelina London Children’s Hospital, with her most recent visit occurring in December 2023, when she officially opened the Children’s Day Surgery Unit. She has also visited the facility alongside her husband, Prince William.

In addition to her visits, Princess Kate has shown her support for the charity in various ways, including inviting five members of Evelina London’s staff to her Royal carol service last year. The charity has expressed its pride and honor in having Kate as its patron, recognizing her commitment to promoting the well-being of children and their families in need of medical care.
