US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump arrived in the United Kingdom last night for a state visit. Today, they will be formally welcomed by King Charles and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle. This visit marks a significant diplomatic engagement, highlighting the ongoing relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom.

In a ceremonial display, the Trumps will also meet with the Prince of Wales and Princess of Wales. The visit will feature a carriage procession through the scenic Windsor estate, showcasing the historic and cultural ties that unite the two nations.

According to the UK Ministry of Defence, this state visit will include the largest guard of honour ever assembled for such an occasion, comprising approximately 1,300 service personnel and 120 horses. The contingent will include 160 members from the Royal Marines and Royal Navy, alongside 1,000 from the Army and 140 from the Royal Air Force.

A unique aspect of this visit is the inaugural performance of a joint Beating Retreat ceremony by UK and US military bands. This event will culminate in a joint flypast featuring British and American F-35 jets alongside the renowned Red Arrows. The Ministry of Defence has stated that this display underscores the strength of UK-US defence and security ties.

As part of their itinerary, the Trumps will pay their respects at the tomb of the late Queen Elizabeth II in St George’s Chapel this afternoon. This gesture reflects the deep-rooted traditions of the British monarchy and the significant role the late Queen played in fostering international relations.

The day will conclude with a traditional state banquet held in St George’s Hall, where both King Charles and President Trump are expected to deliver speeches. This formal gathering will not only celebrate the enduring friendship between the UK and US but also provide a platform for discussing future cooperation on various issues.

Overall, this state visit symbolizes a moment of unity and shared values, emphasizing the close diplomatic and cultural relationship between the two countries.
