Young Carers Lead Exciting Celebration Event in Wrexham for 2026
Young carers in Wrexham are set to play a pivotal role in a new celebration event scheduled for January 2026. This initiative involves collaboration with Done Together CIC, a newly established social enterprise, and Credu, an organization that provides support to both young and adult carers. The event will take place at Brymbo Sports Club and will feature a ‘Stars’ theme, showcasing performances from young carers learning to play musical instruments through Wrexham Sounds.
The celebration aims to recognize the invaluable contributions of young carers and their allies within the community. According to Sally Duckers, team leader at Credu, “We are celebrating the incredible contributions of young carers and young carer allies from Wrexham.” She emphasized the importance of this event, noting the enthusiasm surrounding it and the opportunity to honor the exceptional efforts of individuals who support young carers in various capacities.
Nominations for recognition are set to close soon, heightening the excitement as the community prepares to celebrate the kindness and dedication of these young individuals. Duckers added that the event will shine a spotlight on the “everyday thoughtfulness” of young carers and those who support them.
In addition to performances, young carers are collaborating with artist Jamila Thomas from Arts Connection to create star-themed decorations and share inspirational quotes, aimed at infusing the event hall with positivity. Highlighting the creativity of the young participants, Leanne Jeffreys, an outreach worker at Credu, expressed her anticipation for the event. “The young carers come up with brilliant ideas and are so grateful for the support friends, family, and other professionals have shown them,” she stated.
This project has received significant financial backing, amounting to £16,399, from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. The initiative is supported by various organizations, including Cadwyn Clwyd, AVOW, and Wrexham County Council.
The celebration not only aims to honor young carers but also to foster a sense of community and recognition for their important roles. As the event draws closer, the young carers involved are preparing to take center stage, showcasing their talents and the impact of their work in Wrexham and beyond.
