Carmarthenshire Council Leader Resigns, Deputy to Fill Role

The leader of Carmarthenshire County Council, Cllr Darren Price, has resigned for personal reasons. The announcement was made in a brief statement released on Thursday evening, confirming his decision to step down from the leadership role. Cllr Price will continue to serve as a member of the council representing the Gorslas ward and remains affiliated with Plaid Cymru.

In the wake of Cllr Price’s resignation, the council has scheduled a meeting for December 10, 2025, during which a new leader will be appointed. Until that time, Cllr Linda Evans, the Deputy Leader of the County Council, will undertake the responsibilities of the leader.

Local Member of Parliament, Ann Davies, acknowledged Cllr Price’s contributions during his tenure, stating, “His professionalism has been outstanding.” This sentiment reflects the impact of Cllr Price’s leadership on the council and the local community.

As the council prepares for this transition, focus will now shift to the selection of Cllr Price’s successor and the direction the council will take under new leadership.
