Aberystwyth Town Welcomes Rackeem Reid as New Striker Threat

Aberystwyth Town has welcomed new striker Rackeem Reid following his debut in a commanding 2-0 victory against Cwmbran Celtic on Saturday. This signing marks a significant addition to the team as they aim to enhance their attacking options in the ongoing season.

Reid, who has spent most of his playing career in the English football pyramid, brings valuable experience from his time at several clubs, including Rushall Olympic, Telford Utd, and Leamington Spa. His journey in Welsh football began when he joined Newtown in January 2025. During his time there, he played under manager Callum McKenzie and alongside current Aberystwyth teammates Desean Martin and Calvin Smith, making four appearances in the Cymru Premier before his time was cut short due to personal circumstances.

Beyond his football career, Reid is also dedicated to education. He serves as an education leader in his hometown of Birmingham, where he tutors and mentors young people. Reid is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Education at Birmingham City University, showcasing his commitment to both his sport and his academic ambitions.

Aberystwyth Town’s manager, Callum McKenzie, expressed enthusiasm about Reid’s potential impact on the team. He described Reid as “a really athletic, aggressive forward who can play centrally or off the sides.” McKenzie believes that Reid’s skills will pose a significant challenge for opposing defenses, stating, “I believe that he will be a handful for opposition defences and give us a real goal threat.”
